Fresh from a guest appearance at Glastonbury festival in England, where she was special guest at South Korean DJ Peggy Gou’s set on 29 June, Sophie Ellis-Bextor came to Norway to entertain the crowd at Stavernfestivalen.

The band had just arrived 4 minutes before going on stage, due to flight delays, and Ellis-Bextor explained that she had to get changed into her stage clothes on the plane. However, she still delivered an energetic, positive performance, along with her band members who were wearing amusing animal head masks. Ellis-Bextor continually referred to the crowd as "my loves" and "my darlings".

The set included notable songs from Ellis-Bextor's discography such as "Can’t Fight This Feeling" and "Get Over You", and also an excellent ABBA cover, "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme", which saw the crowd jumping up and down in unison. The unrivalled highlight of the evening was an electric performance of "Murder on the Dancefloor", which was first released in 2001 and enjoyed a huge resurgence recently due to its inclusion in a famous scene from Saltburn. Sigrid also made a special guest appearance on stage and danced and sang along with Ellis-Bextor. The short set was a perfect warm up for the headliner to come later, another English singer song-writer, Sam Smith.
