Emma Steinbakken had her breakthrough as a 15-year-old in 2018. Her debut single "Not going to Cry" has reached over 25 million plays and her long-awaited debut album "Home" was released in 2023. Steinbakken has also played a solo show at Oslo Spektrum, so the main stage at Slottsfjell suited her well.
Her pop songs at the festival were catchy, varying from soothing numbers to the upbeat "This One's On Me", where Steinbakken encouraged the crowd to sing with her, chanting the chorus lyrics. It's a slick, professional performance from the solo artist and her band, all dressed in white, and the crowd cheer loudly at the end of every single song. Steinbakken is loved here.
Steinbakken has said that music is at its best when it creates bonds between people, and a common understanding of the lump you have in your stomach. She certainly created a strong bond with the audience at Slottsfjell, who were left wanting more.
