Sam Smith delivered a professional show where the audience didn't seem bored for a single moment, due to the artist's angelic voice and the dynamics of a flawless stage production, which included slogans such as "Liberation" and "Protect Trans Kids". Smith communicated well with the crowd, telling them they were the "prettiest" festival ever and "you're making me blush".

Highlights were "Too Good at Goodbyes" and a Donna Summer cover "I Feel Love", but "Unholy" was the crowning glory of the set, which featured plenty of songs from Smith's latest album "Gloria", covers, as well as tracks from the debut record "In the Lonely Hour", now 10 years old. That album has autobiographical tracks on the theme of unrequited love, however it was clear from the cheers and tears in the audience that Stavernfestivalen had nothing but love for Smith.
